At the 35th Annual Conference of the Specialized Information Publishers Association (SIPA), AHC Media was recognized with top honors in multiple categories.

Hospital Infection Control & Prevention took 2nd place in the Best Analytical Reporting category for a special report titled “MRSA Patient Stories.” Written by long-time HIC editor Gary Evans, the first part of the report detailed the painful loses of patients and families stricken by these multidrug resistant infections. The second part of the report focused on the limited response by the clinical and public health community to an epidemic that now kills more Americans annually than HIV/AIDS. 

Emergency Medicine Reports took 2nd place in the Best Instructional Reporting category for a two-part series on the challenges of diagnosing elderly patients in the emergency department. The award goes to frequent contributor Gary Hals, MD, PhD, physician editors Sandra M. Schneider, MD, FACEP and J. Stephan Stapczynski, MD, FACEP, and the staff editors who worked on the issue, Shelly Morrow Mark and Russ Underwood.

Trauma Reports received a 3rd place award in the Best Instructional Reporting category for an issue on the considerations involved in organ procurement in trauma. The award goes to authors Dr. Ryan King, June Hinkle, RN, Dr. Howard Werman, physician editor Dr. Ann Dietrich and former managing editor Allison Weaver.
