Product Description

In July 2009, the Joint Commission amended eight of the eleven standards on Record of Care (also known as the documentation chapter). If you aren't incorporating these changes into your forms, assessment tools and documentation, you could lose Joint Commission accreditation.

In this 90 minute audio conference, nurse attorney Sue Dill Calloway will tell you what you need to know to be compliant with the new requirements in RC.01.01.01; RC.01.02.01; RC.01.03.01; RC.01.05.01; RC.02.01.01; RC.02.01.03; RC.02.01.05; RC.02.01.07; RC.02.03.07; and RC.02.04.01.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe what TJC requires to be documented regarding verbal orders and history and physicals.
  • Discuss how TJC required elements should be incorporated into hospital forms and documents.
  • Recall that the hospital is required to audit its medical records.
  • Discuss why the medical record must contain a summary list for each patient receiving continuing ambulatory care services.
  • List what needs to be documented if restraint or seclusion is used.

Target Audience:

  • Nurse Educators
  • Nurses and Nurse Managers
  • Risk Management Professionals
