The first 90-minute webinar in the “Developing Your Case Management Program” series by case management experts Dr. Toni Cesta and Bev Cunningham, RN, MS will discuss best practice roles and functions for a contemporary case management department.  With an eye toward the future, each case management department must begin to consider how it will reorganize its resources to respond to the changes brought on by health care reform, Accountable Care Organizations, capitation, reductions in readmissions and other modalities.  What worked in the past may not be enough to respond to the future.  Join us in exploring the best ways in which to create the case management department of the future.

  • Identify the functions that can be applied to each case management role

Part 2: Roles, Functions and Models:  A Review of Models and Staffing Ratios Time

Recorded: Tuesday, February 28, 2012

The second 90-minute webinar in the “Developing Your Case Management Program” series by case management experts Dr. Toni Cesta and Bev Cunningham, RN, MS will review how to apply the most contemporary case management roles and functions in the creation of a best practice model.   Gone are the days of the past when case management departments could get by with minimal staffing and no vacancy coverage for vacation, holidays and sick days.  Today’s department must be staffed based on ratios that have been tested and are deemed best practice in today’s case management world.  While case management used to be considered an “add-on” department, today we must be sure that we have a prominent role and that our departments are designed to be the most efficient and effective that they can be.  Two of the most tested models will be discussed in the context of the healthcare reform landscape and the evolving nature of health care today. Strategies for individualizing these models to your hospital will be explored as well as the staffing you will need for both nurse case managers and social workers to be successful and to meet your department’s goals and objectives.
