There are many resources risk managers can use when implementing a comprehensive workplace violence program in a healthcare facility. These are two to consider:
• The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) maintains a webpage with strategies and tools for combating workplace violence in healthcare settings. It is part of the agency’s Worker Safety in Hospitals website (https://bit.ly/2rQqxE7), and includes examples from organizations that have launched successful workplace violence prevention programs.
• OSHA’s Guidelines for Preventing Workplace Violence for Healthcare and Social Service Workers are available for download at: https://bit.ly/2IKrzM6. The guidelines includes information on workplace hazard prevention and analysis, training, and recordkeeping.
